Functional specification
Describe triggers, inputs, outputs, permissions, exceptions and examples before engineering begins.

BUILD & EXTEND
Custom modules, portals and business logic when your requirement needs more than standard configuration.
WHAT WE DELIVER
We translate a business requirement into a defined development task, build it in a controlled environment and test it with the people who will use it. Source access, dependencies and handover are part of the discussion from the start.
Build functionality for a business activity that the existing applications do not cover.
Implement agreed calculations, validations and transaction rules.
Assess customer, supplier or internal interfaces around the records users need to access.
Develop the Odoo-side logic needed for a separately scoped connection.
Keep development versioned, with clear dependencies and review points.
Test the behaviour, permissions and related flows before the agreed release.
IS THIS THE RIGHT SERVICE?
Represent a specialised process with appropriate records and rules.
Review source and compatibility before extending or repairing it.
Design the interaction around the task and access requirements.
THE RESULT OF THE WORK
Each engagement has agreed deliverables and a named owner for the next step.
Discuss your development briefOUR APPROACH
Agree the business rules and technical environment.
Build with reviewable source and progress checks.
Test the requirement and related behaviour.
Release with documentation and ownership clear.
CONTROL THE ENGINEERING WORK
Custom code becomes a business dependency. Its behaviour, ownership and maintenance route should be visible before deployment.
Describe triggers, inputs, outputs, permissions, exceptions and examples before engineering begins.
Record source location, licence terms, review access, dependencies and client handover rights.
Test expected behaviour, permissions, invalid inputs and affected existing workflows in a controlled environment.
Plan backup, deployment, rollback, defect handling, documentation and later-version adaptation.
Release gate: deploy only after the agreed tests pass, access and backup are confirmed, and the responsible owner approves the release window.
A LITTLE MORE DETAIL
The environment must support the proposed custom code. Odoo Online does not accept arbitrary custom server modules; Odoo.sh or suitable self-hosting may be required.
Repository access, ownership and modification rights are written into the agreement, including any third-party licence conditions.
Record the supported Odoo version, affected models, user roles, triggers, validations, expected outputs, exceptions, dependencies and sample acceptance tests. Separate confirmed behaviour from assumptions still needing a decision.
Provide repository access, dependency and installation notes, configuration steps, data changes, test evidence, release notes, known limitations, rollback conditions and the agreed maintenance owner.
Yes, subject to the requirement and environment review. A standalone module can be scoped separately from a wider ERP rollout.
We can assess a bounded workstream with agreed source access, coding conventions, review responsibilities and release ownership.
Future-version adaptation is a separate responsibility unless explicitly covered by the agreement.
Acceptance tests are agreed against the specification, including permissions, exceptions and relevant existing workflows.
Use an authorised non-production environment with representative configuration and anonymised or approved test data. Production deployment follows the agreed backup, release and rollback plan.
A defect is behaviour that fails the accepted specification. A new or changed business requirement should follow the agreed change process, with its own impact, estimate and approval.
